Glodeni II solar park receives commercial operating license

Glodeni II solar park receives commercial operating license
With the commissioning of Glodeni II, DRI now operates three renewable energy projects in Romania, totaling 159MW AC.

DRI’s third renewable energy project in Romania, the 60MWp Glodeni II solar park, has officially received its commercial operating license from the Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE). This license grants DRI the right to sell the electricity generated by the park.

Located in Mureș County, Glodeni II is expected to produce approximately 86.4 GWh annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 21800 tonnes annually. Together with Glodeni I (53MWp), Glodeni II forms one of the largest solar park complexes in Romania.

As part of a landmark agreement, 62% of the energy generated by both Glodeni I and II will be sold to OMV Petrom S.A.. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is the largest physical solar offtake agreement ever signed in Romania. The PPA spans 8.5 years, covering approximately 100 GWh per year at a fixed rate, and includes both physical electricity and Guarantees of Origin.

With the commissioning of Glodeni II, DRI now operates three renewable energy projects in Romania, totaling 159 MW AC:

  • Glodeni I (53MWp/49.05 MW AC, solar)

  • Glodeni II (60MWp/49,9 MW AC, solar)

  • Ruginoasa Wind Farm (60 MW AC, Iasi County) – the first wind farm built in Romania in a decade, operational since December 2023

DRI is also constructing its fourth Romanian project, a 126 MWp solar park in Văcărești, Dâmbovița County, expected to begin production in Q1 2026.
