Renewable energy company DRI supports Romanian communities
DRI, the EU renewable energy arm of the DTEK Group, has rapidly established a strong presence in Romania with three operational projects and one under construction, expanding the company's portfolio in the country to 299MWp. While driving the energy transition in Romania and across other Central and Eastern European countries, DRI is equally committed to supporting the local communities where it operates. To date, DRI has launched social projects in all the communities where it operates across Romania, focusing on healthcare and youth education on green energy and the energy transition.

Key community projects in Romania:
In Ruginoasa, Iași County, home to DRI’s 60MWp wind farm – the first new wind farm built in Romania in a decade – the company supported local children with essential gift packs to celebrate Children’s Day. Furthermore, DRI experts in Romania played an active role in facilitating school visits to the wind farm, educating children on how a wind farm works and the importance of producing green energy.
In Glodeni, Târgu Mureș County, where DRI operates two solar parks — Glodeni I (53MWp) and Glodeni II (60MWp) — the company has sponsored all children in the community with educational packs. Here, DRI is also supporting the completion of the new local medical centre, which is essential for the community as residents currently must travel to the nearest city for good conditions for basic healthcare. While the municipality has already funded the renovation of the centre, additional furnishings were needed to make it fully functional. DRI has stepped in to provide this support. The renovated medical centre, featuring three treatment rooms (two general and one dental), will be ready by autumn and will serve the residents of Glodeni, 65% of whom belong to vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly.
In the Vacărești area, Dâmbovița County, home to the 126MWp solar park currently under construction, DRI has been actively supporting local events that bring the community together. The company provided gift packs in Vacărești commune, while in Ulmi and Lucieni, DRI collaborated with trusted contractors Ostenweg and Eximprod on the same activity.
DRI considers Romania one of its priority countries and will continue to invest in renewable energy and battery storage projects, while working on social impact projects in each of its locations.
