Our commitment
Our commitment is to reduce Europe’s reliance on fossil fuels and to move towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
We work in underserved markets where we can have the greatest impact, contributing to countries’ decarbonisation strategies and increasing their renewable energy capacity.
And in achieving this, we are committed to upholding best practice in sustainability and health and safety.
Environmental Stewardship (E)
We work with equipment suppliers who are committed to sustainability, prioritising recycling technologies and responsible material value chains. Both our wind and solar projects have a production life of more than 30 years.
The Ruginoasa wind farm features ten state-of-the-art Vestas EnVentus V 162 wind turbines with advanced efficiency and noise reduction technologies. According to Vestas’ research, these turbines are designed to be up to 85% recyclable.
Our solar array incorporates bi-facial panels designed to optimise energy capture. These panels track the sun’s movement, allowing for enhanced energy harvesting, resulting in a potential increase in energy production of up to 30%.
While growing our business responsibly, we recognise the need to conserve biodiversity. In line with our commitment to environmental stewardship, we are exploring initiatives to minimise our environmental footprint, protect natural habitats and support biodiversity conservation efforts.
Social Impact (S)
Our people are our most valuable asset. That is why we strive to create a work environment that promotes diversity and well-being.
Safety is our North star. We are committed to achieving zero accidents on our worksites. We believe that all incidents and accidents are preventable, supported with DRI’s Safety Principles and Lifesaving Rules. We use a caring, coaching, and collaborative approach to eliminate risk. All our colleagues, including our partners from sub-contractors, know to take these principles and lifesaving rules to their hearts and minds.
Governance and transparency (G)
We are building a strong governance structure and developing our ESG roadmap to identify and mitigate the potential negative impacts of our operations, including environmental impacts associated with the construction of solar and wind farms. DRI has also worked with ERM to assess and develop a list of key climate-related risks and opportunities (CRROs) that could affect our company.
As evidence of our commitment to transparency, DRI will issue its first ESG Report in early 2025, providing stakeholders with an overview of our sustainability initiatives, performance metrics and the tangible results of our efforts.
