Construction commenced in March 2023, and the first of 10 Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines was erected in July. The turbines have a diameter of 162m, with a hub height of 125m, and the project is expected to commence commissioning testing in October 2023. A new, dedicated substation is also under construction that will connect the project to the 110kv overhead line operated by Delgas.
The project is being financed by DTEK Renewables International together with a project finance facility provided by Kommunalkredit Austria AG. Project Ruginoasa will be one of the first windfarms to be constructed in Romania since the ending of the government support scheme in 2013.
